a few words by osenboz:

a few days ago "priam" from "kemez's music shelf" contacted
me and told me about his finally released first compilation.
and after visiting his beautiful site, i immediately checked
the release-page to see what he has compiled.

and what i found was way more than expected!
after just the first few seconds of "i am oak",
i was totally captivated.
also the rest of the compilation is filled with alot
of very nice songs, by artists who give their music away
for free, or release their cd's commercially.
(all of them has been asked for permission to give the
specific songs away for free!)

also some special-goodies appear on the compilation:
the song "down here" by "stateless" can currently be found
nowhere else! and allison crowe's "effortless" is
an unmixed original version.

all in all i can say that when you listen to this
compilation, you hear that the "compiler" had not just
taken the first few songs he liked. he spent alot of time
searching for the right ones (actually about half a year!)
to capture a wide range of emotions.

...and of course, don't forget to visit his sites:

general site about free-music: kemez´s music shelf
compilations: kemuzik

have a nice listen!
...and if you like the release, don't forget to leave
a comment or at least give some stars!!

my bubba & mi - how it's done in italy

---

a few words by osenboz:

once every few months there's a release which
absolutely enthuses me...
and this time, the female-trio "my bubba & me" totally made it!

on their debut release they present 10 amazingly
gorgeous songs, which already sweetened
alot of my mornings, afternoons, evenings, bus-rides,
hikes, cycling-tours, and nearly every situation where
you can possibly listen to music.

even though the cd was released nearly 1 month ago,
i think you can probably still get one of the
hand-made cd's and vinyls on "beep!beep! back up the truck"
or on the "we were never being boring collection"
if not, the "pay what you want" mp3-download from
bandcamp needs to be suffice. (click on the cover)

...this time i'll not add some "personal favourite songs",
because it would be too hard to choose which song to exclude...

...and if you got the luck to be in italy this week,
don't forget to have a look at their >>>tour-dates!!

below i added some of their very beautiful pictures...
(you can watch more of them on their blog: >>>here

a few words by osenboz:

hello my honored readers!

the last weeks i ran a bit out of time, and so the
blog had to go to sleep for a while...
but now finally easter is here, and i've got alot
of great new free music for you!

...and the first amazing piece of music comes from
ellen arkbro and johan graden, the two members of the
stockholm-based electro-pop duo "adam & alma"

on the 5 tracks of their debut-release "back to the sea"
they offer a spheric mixture of piano-melodies and electronic
beats, surrounded by the fairy-like singing of ellen.

when i first listened to this release, i had it running
in the background, and it seemed a bit too smooth and
lovely for me.
but then i listened to it a second time, without spending
my attention on something else... and now i absolutely
enjoyed it!

...so please mind my tip for this release:
give it at least a second listen!

yamamoto - summer songs for winter people

if you want to download the whole release, click on the cover

---

a few words by osenboz:

as we all know... good things take time...
and the best example to proove this saying is
"the pony republic" netlabel.

after nearly 8 monts of silence, they showed a
sign of life, and released the new ep by
"mario supereit" and "brenda j" (a.k.a yamamoto)

the two mexican musicians took some beats, bleeps
and their voices to create a very relaxing mixture
between pop and experimental indie-electronic

it's a short ep which lasts just 21 minutes,
but within those minutes time seems to run a
bit slower...

carlee hendrix & the whole earth catalog - northbound

if you want to download the whole release, click on the cover

---

a few words by osenboz:

when i first heard the recording of the live show
by carlee hendrix & the whole earth catalog @hotel cafe
(you can get it >>>here) i was really impressed by
the voice of carlee, and the "lightness" of the songs.

now at last, they released a short ep,
and even though i have to admit that some of the songs
are a bit too "cute" for me, i need to say
that in my opinion this ep is definitely worth a listen.
(and of course a second and third listen too...)

they just sat together for a weekend, and recorded all
the tracks without having playing as band alot before.
and the result of this home-recording-session are
6 cute pop songs about (as she wrote in the intro-text):

"boys who broke my heart and love letters to the universe
and turning into a tree and sleeping on my rooftop all summer"

entertainment for the braindead - roadkill

if you want to download the whole release, click on the cover

---

a few words by osenboz:

finally it's here!

one of my highest awaited free-releases for this year
has reached the "stores" of aaahh-records.

while busy studying at the "academy of media arts" in cologne,
julia kotowski a.k.a. "entertainment for the braindead" fell
in love with a banjo, and decided to record some tracks
showing her experiences with this little instrument.

on her (already 5th!) release, she hasn't lost a single
piece of her uniqueness. her songs are still as fragile as
a snowflake but also as exhilarant as the first sunrays of spring.

as pre-listen song i've choosen the song "roadkill",
because this track immediately catched my ear.
but i can just advise you to not just listen to this song
on his own, but to listen to the whole release closely.
because that's the way how this cd unfolds it's entire beauty.

a few words by osenboz:

23seconds netlabel is always offering a big diversity
of free-music.

...and this time, they came up with a really nice
new ep from henrik josé.
the swedish musician is busy offering free-music since 1997.
you can find a bunch of tracks on his homepage.
till 2007 he produced mostly non-vocaled laidback-electronica,
and after a nearly 3-years brake he's now back with a
5-tracks ep, built on his previous experiences, but with
a new electro-pop touch.

kenedy - ep 2010

if you want to download the whole release, click on the cover

---

a few words by osenboz:

ok, now here's my second souvenir from my bandcamp-safari.
and it's once again an indie-pop release!
i don't know why there are that much great releases
in this genre currenty... but i don't object...

unfortunately all infos on kenedys myspace-page are
in spanish... so i can't give you any single details.

the only thing i know for sure is that this is his
debut release.

when i first listened to this release, i indeed liked
his songs, but they didn't enthuse me totally.
but then the last track "see the moon" came...
and it really made my day.
i can't exactly tell you why, i simply can't stop listening
to this song.

and well... the more i listened to the rest of the ep,
the more i likeed all the other tracks too
...and this is in my opinion an excellent attribute of a song

so be sure to listen to this ep at least twice!

andrew conklin - if i were more like you

if you want to download the whole release, click on the cover

---

a few words by osenboz:

yesterday i had the time to crawl through the bandcamp-jungle...
and i found some really nice releases!

one of them is "if i were more like you" by "andrew conklin"
it is filled with 10 delicious, unintrusive indie-pop tracks
created with guitar, piano, keyboards, percussion, bass, drums,
sax, trombone and the voice of andew conklin.

a perfect cd for those lazy saturdays ...like mine today
where you just want to lie around and let the music
create a warm and comfy feeling.

my favourites are:

01 - woke up
02 - jaguar
06 - kind/alike

derrick hart - songs from a cross (the sea)

if you want to download the whole release, click on the cover

---

a few words by osenboz:

it's been a long time since i last checked 12records
for new releases...
fortunately i came across their homepage today,
and when i noticed the cover of the new ep by
"derrick hart" i immediately had very high expectations.

but they've been exceeded!
this melancholic piece of pure indie-folk-pop listening
pleasure is exactly what i was searching for.

unfortunately it's again just a 4 track-ep, but listening to
those tracks allows the time to have a break.
the warm, melancholic voice of derric hart, assisted with
a chello, acoustic guitar and calm drums creates a really
nice calming atmosphere.

i don't know how often i listened to the track
"you're winning so i quit"... but it was surely more
than 5 times within the last 2 hours....
and it still doesn't get boring!

... for all those who can't get enough
of his music, there's an exclusive track of derric hart
on the "floating fire" compilation by acoustic firework records:

wild honey - epic handshakes and a bear hug

if you want to download the whole release, click on the cover

---

a few words by osenboz:

1 week without a single entry...
i'm sorry for that... but i had to solve some problems with my pc...
fortunately now everything's ok again...

and here's the next wonderful release:

i stumbled upon it today by accident...
and shortly after the first "huuuu huuuu" and the trumpet
of the intro-song, i was totally captured.

the mix of flutes, trumpets, guitars, drums and
the calm voices of the singer "Guillermo Farré" and
his female partner (i couldn't find her name...)
harmonize really great, and the result is a
very well produced, indie-folk-pop release.

it starts great, and stays great,
and when the 12th track has gone to an end,
it leaves a nice, chilled feeling,
and animates you to listen to the whole release once again...

my favourites are:

02 - 1918-1929
08 - isabella
10 - kings of tomorrow
